Upgrade X01HT to WM6

The upgrade is quite straight forward. As indicated in other websites, xda-developers is where you should look for information. I put below the minimal set of links you should read so that you could get started in a quicker way. These are the steps I have followed as well.

1. Install the bootloading HardSPL - this allows you to flash ROM from any origin without the need to change the CID. Use 1.10 in the following link. Once HardSPL is installed, you don't need to install it again when flashing a different ROM in th future.

2. Download the ROM image of your choice.

For shipped ROM -

For customized ROM - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Cooked_ROMs

3. Upgrade from MicroSD - this is my preferred method. See below link for details. Basically, this is (a) extract the ROM image (with extension .nbh) into an empty MicroSD card; (b) reset the machine by pressing the side power and ok butten and press the reset button at the same time; (c) that's it and you will be prompted to start the upgrade by pressing the power button.

4. That's it and you may carry on with installing other software.

I am using the HK Chinese ROM released by Dopod. After a fresh install, around 27MB of storage and program memory is available. Not very good but I think it's a compromise given I don't use 3rd party Chinese plugin.
