It has been some time I used my Nokia 770 and I am totally satisfied with it. In particular, I find this a good ebook reader for my PDF files. The large screen is indeed a big plus.
Today, I decided to take my next step and re-install the gadget with the hope I could try out more from the little device before it's oudated (actually, with the introduction of N800 and N810 and releases of OS2008, some people has considered 770 outdated already.
Below a check list of items I want to do and I will use this post to keep track of my progress.

Completed
- Reflash my Nokia 770 with the latest Nokia update (releaed back in 2006 I believed) - completed on Jan-14. This is the easiest one. Just download the update from the Nokia website and follow the steps to complete this. Well, it takes me a while to locate the swap button to start the machine in update mode. On a 770, I think it should be called the home key to avoid confusion (as it's icon is a home).
- Setup with the essential tools so that I could get root access in the Linux console
- Configure the system to boot from my 1GB RS-MMC card
- Install the Chinese fonts
- Install my favorite software - evince PDF reader, mplayer video player
- Try out with other games and software
