A Random Walk Down the Wall Street, by Burton Malkiel
This is the book I would recommend for all newib investors. I have just read it myself and find it very informative. It covers various aspects of investment especially around the topic how different people pick for their investment. The core principle in the book being there is not a reliable or time-proven way to search for the best stock or fund; when you buy, you should always buy those instruments that follows the market with minimum fee (e.g. ETF).
The book is highly reading and I find it entertaining as well. Whether you agree with the principle or not, the information inside is good.
